Is it just me because of the people I have followed and the pages I have chosen on social media or is side hustle culture all around us? I’ve spent years trying to be successful in pre established multi-level marketing like Creative Memories and Isagenix and even spent a handful of years as a Mary Kay consultant to get the discount. Companies of this nature have been around for a long time but it just seems that the entrepreneurial spirit of those that start up their own business and create their own products is burning bright at this moment in human history.

I am on board for it and totally available for whatever inspiration that may come my way. My issue is that for as much as I feel passionately inspired on a daily basis to improve myself and find new ways of doing things and all the things to elevate my vibration, I don’t feel like I have “a thing.” You know: a thing? A niche? A specialty?

I’ve heard many Podcasters and Youtubers and Instagramers say that everybody has at least one skill set that they know enough about that they could teach classes on. And I’m just not so sure about that. And not to be conceited or come across as vain, but I’m kind of one of those do it yourselfers, jack of all trades, master of none types, and I still feel like I’m inadequate to really teach on much of anything. I mean is there really a calling out there to teach people how to teach themselves how to do things lol? I mean how much money could I make telling people to just look on YouTube or Google it? Also, the things that I tend to know most about are related to my professional training, and I just feel that there’s way too much liability in teaching something that can endanger my nursing license or someone’s health if something goes wrong. And thankfully that scratch of medical creativity and knowledge gets itched on a daily basis at my 9-5.

So…after listening to yet another successful entrepreneur say that everybody has a thing, I started typing out a list yesterday of things I feel I’m good at, things I could maybe teach other people, and the like. Yes, I probably have an above average understanding of how money works. I could probably work as a sous chef if a restaurant were in a major pinch or could assist a plumber or construction crew if they were falling on desperately troubled times. But one thing is for certain, those areas are not my passion nor are they something that I know very much about outside of a faking it while I make it premise or a getting it done out of necessity scenario.

So I started my list. Nothing majorly stuck out to me. And yes, I love to write or dictate my thoughts but I’m fresh out of book ideas and the ones I have would probably only be read by my mom, sister, and bf! I love the woo woo where science and spirituality collide, but I’m the first to admit that I am no expert: total dabbler like the rest of the things in life. I think some of my limitations- as some of you may be able to relate to- are that I’m smart enough to know that I don’t know Jack! Not of the truly deep and significant stuff that there is out there that other people want to know. Make your own list and share what it is… Even if it’s the stuff that you know that you may be average at, what do you know? What’s your skill set?

Here’s my initial brain dump:

I am a wound nurse with experience in medical surgical and home health nursing, specializing in wound and ostomy care at this time. I can change out a sink or toilet’s plumbing, install simple flooring, construct furniture or pretty much anything with instructions, troubleshoot car issues and change my own breaks and tires, throw together a big meal easily, refinish cabinetry, strip and stain furniture, paint pretty much any surface, clean out gutters, put up Christmas lights, decorate rooms creatively, create documents and designs on Canva, balance accounts, budget and invest, shampoo carpet and furniture, powerspray, create reels, take unique pictures, plan amazing trips, meal plan, write creatively, meditate/cold soak/pray/deepen my spiritual walk, mow the grass, do basic gardening with equally basic canning skills, landscape, refinish my deck, trim trees and bushes, do weights, run marathons, compete in a triathlon, do things fat, eat healthy, travel the world, list items on Marketplace and EBay, blog, create fun parties, find amazing clothes at Goodwill, build a simple website after building a simple brand, have multiple ideas for unique apps but feel limited because I’m not able to build them myself, and yet I still struggle to find ideas for a business.  I’ve tried to sell scrapbooking and nutrition products in the past and failed miserably.  This has helped create a limiting belief in my mind.  I also started a blog and invested thousands in learning how to turn my blog into a business.  I didn’t like the product I had to give so I could never flipped the switch to the business aspect though I’m confident (if I could get out of my own way) that people could benefit. I couldn’t imagine in my mind how anyone would gain anything from the simple tips and tricks I had to offer.  And sadly, now that I’ve been introduced to the law of attraction, all of my frugality tips feel very much like an anti-abundant mindset.

Can anybody relate?
Am I just gonna sit here moping and hoping inspiration hits me? Probably not, at least not the moping part! I’ll continue to write and listen to podcasts and read and wake up between five and six in the morning when I don’t really need to be up before 730 so that I can read and breathe and do cold soaks and work out and stretch and reflect on what I’m grateful for on the daily! I’m also working on doing some rough creations of a couple of apps that I have ideas for in Canva and I’m praying that I can find an app creator that can help fulfill my visions. Do you know what I find funny? The apps that I want to create make me motivated to create them not because I’m an expert in those areas but because they are an answer to needs that I have personally had and desire to have a solution to!

What in the world needs to be created to assist you and how can you go about creating it? Whether it’s a podcast or an app or a blog or are you a fitness trainer that has so much wisdom to share or a marathon runner that is really good at getting people off the couch and running seven minute miles? There are people out there desperate for what you have to offer… Will you put something together to present to the world? What I’m finding is that even though there may be a saturation of entrepreneurs in the world, everyone strikes me a little differently when I see their work on Instagram. I have little to no interest in some and others have me in tears or completely inspired. You may not be someone’s cup of tea, but others may be completely mesmerized by you and ready to sip on you all day!
